SCRIPTURE
"You delivered me from strife with the peoples; you made me head of the nations….Great triumphs God gives to the king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever." - Psalm 18:1-6, 43-50
REFLECTION
Congratulations! You have been delivered from your strife.
Now what?
It happens to all of us time-and-again if we really think about it. Every day we have a million moments when we are given the gift of not having to deal with something really hard when millions around us can’t say the same thing. Even this pandemic, with all of its difficulties, frustrations and inconveniences have not severely impacted the lives of a great many of us in our church family the way it has for almost a million people around our planet.
We are also often given the gift of going through something difficult and getting through it, traveling through and out of our “valley moments” and given the opportunity to find new mountaintops.
Congratulations. You have been delivered from your strife. Now what?
Do we interpret our times of overcoming life’s challenges as a time for new purpose and direction, or do we take them for granted and remain the same people we were before? Will the massive changes we are going through right now along with everyone else around our planet transform us and move us to be something different (and hopefully better) or will we simply seek to go back to being the same as we were prior to 2020?
The time will come when we can all get “back to normal.” Then what?
PRAYER
God of Promise, allow us to be changed by a world that changes us and live lives with a more sacred direction and purpose.
Amen.
Peace,
Shawn
