Youth Ministry

YOUTH PROGRAMS

First Congregational Church of Winter Park offers a wide variety of programs and activities for people of all ages. In addition, we constantly strive to modify or adapt our programming to meet the needs of our congregation, our friends and guests. Activities for youth are outlined below.

W.I.N.G.S. (Worth, Insight, Nurture, Goals, Spirit) - For youth in grades 6-12, the W.I.N.G.S. group meets most Sunday evenings from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. during the school year.  We begin with a shared meal, then break into smaller groups by age for spiritual, outreach, art, and social activities with friends.  Registration and other forms are required for participation in this program.

Youth and Graduate Sundays - In the spring our W.I.N.G.S. youth lead worship with innovative and exciting programming.  Also, in the spring, all those graduating from  high school are recognized and invited to preach or participate in the service in other ways.

Outreach and Community Service - We provide opportunities for youth to engage in outreach and community service projects throughout the year.

Summer Youth Mission Experience - For the past three years we have visited the Door of Faith Orphanage located in Baja, Mexico, attended the UCC National Youth Event, worked in Little Rock, AR, the Heifer International Ranch, and in the San Francisco Bay area of CA. Hands on experiences provide youth with opportunities for spiritual growth and to make a positive impact on their world.

Confirmation and Youth Studies - Confirmation is the completion of baptism.  Youth study for nine months, learning about their faith, other faiths, their church and denomination.  Registration and other forms are required for participation
in this program.  Confirmation is offered on alternate years.

Youth Bible Study - After Confirmation, Youth Bible study takes place twice per month on scheduled Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m.  On other Sundays our confirmed youth remain in church.    Calendar info is provided by E-mail and published in the church bulletin.

Joyful Noise! - These programs occur on Wednesday evenings during the school year.  Joyful Noise! Wednesday evenings include times for youth choir and sacred dance.  Youth may also participate in adult study classes if they choose.

Retreats and Florida Conference Events - Our youth participate with youth from across Florida at UCC Florida Conference weekend retreats and trips.
