Welcome from Rev. Bryan G. Fulwider
WELCOME, FRIENDS . . . In the Fall of 1999 I was called to serve as Sr. Minister of First Congregational Church of Winter Park. What attracted me to consider sharing the journey with this family of faith is what through the years has again and again proved to be the heartbeat of this great, historic church. First Congregational has a deep and abiding commitment to both Ministries of Outreach and Ministries of Education. Through-out its history this church has been on the cutting edge of many great endeavors. We founded Rollins College in the late 1800's, and both the Plymouth and Mayflower retirement communities in the early 1970's. Our congregation worked for greater social justice as a leader in the civil rights movement, providing education and support for African American Clergy in Winter Park and surrounding areas in the 1950's and 1960's. Today, our Gurtler Center houses ministries that bring the black and white commuinity of Winter Park together. Also, we host regular Interfaith Gatherings that build understanding and friendship among people of many different faiths. We welcome people of every religious and politicial background, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and we encourage freedom of thought and the free exchange of ideas. We are an open community of love and compassion, doing our best to follow Christ, and live out our faith. Please explore our website to learn more about us. Then, if you find ideas and concepts that intrigue you, come visit us in downtown Winter Park some Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. I look forward to meeting you when you come to visit, please be sure to introduce yourself to me.
