The Winter Park Chamber Music Academy is a program of the Community School of Music of First Congregational Church of Winter Park, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. The Academy is dedicated to performing chamber music, one of the most challenging and rewarding of all musical experiences, written for small gro ups of musicians. Chamber music developed as a result of the love of making music with others and the Winter Park Chamber Music Academy will foster this tradition.

The Winter Park Chamber Music Academy program will embrace a diverse group of highly talented young performers, professionals and serious amateurs, who will work in all combinations, from duos, trios, quartets, quintets, sextets, septets, octets, etc… to chamber orchestra.

Students, after their acceptance, will be notified of chamber music groups, and repertoire. Chamber music groups will start performances after several weeks of rehearsals. Each member will be part of one Chamber ensemble and one Chamber Orchestra each week beginning in the middle of August and finishing in the middle of June, with breaks for holidays.

The Winter Park Chamber Music Academy experience is highly personalized, inspirational and is intended to expand students’ professional confidence. Students are encouraged to attend all concerts and take advantage of performance and master classes with world-famous musicians.

All rehearsals will be at:

Alvaro Gomez

Music Director and Conductor

ALVARO GOMEZ

Over the years, it has been my privilege to be intimately involved with music, as a soloist in violin, viola, conducting orchestras and master classes, in the most important music centers in the world. Above all, chamber music is a unique genre, which brings to me the most pleasure and happiness.

It is especially gratifying to transfer that joy, inspiration, and deep satisfaction to the new generation. Performance of chamber music requires long and careful rehearsals since inaccuracies of any kind show up very clearly. The performers therefore, have to rely on each other to regulate the tempo, balance, and light and shade of the piece. The diffi culties of playing chamber music are the very aspects that most musicians enjoy. More than ever, the success of chamber ensembles lies not only in the quality of their performance, but also in their ability to educate and communicate with audiences.
